OGF22 Call for Participation
The 22nd Open Grid Forum - OGF22
February 25-28, 2008
Cambridge, MA USA

Session proposals are now being accepted for OGF22, which will be held in Cambridge, Massachusetts USA from February 25 – 28, 2008. OGF Event Programs seek to strengthen existing industrial and eScience communities within OGF, provide a forum to foster new relationships and collaborations based on common interests, and to develop technical specifications related to distributed systems and grids.

In addition to its chartered groups and Birds of a Feather (BoF) sessions, OGF is soliciting proposals for content that support its mission of accelerating grid adoption in both research and industry. While the Program Committee will consider all proposed content related to grid technology and usage, they are particularly seeking content related to the following topics:

The Call for Participation submission deadline is December 21,2007.

OGF Specification Adoption
OGF22 will feature a multi-session track with contributions from developers and users showcasing their work implementing OGF specification(s). As grids and grid-like infrastructures continue to gain prominence in scientific and commercial settings, implementation of open standards is key to interoperability and widespread adoption.

This Specification Adoption Track aims to provide a vehicle for:
  • highlighting project success and increasing organization visibility,
  • productive interaction with specification authors,
  • discussion of specifications with experienced implementers.

These sessions are for developers and implementers of technical specifications. Proposers should select the “Spec Adoption? session type in the below drop-down.

Pharma/Life Sciences
OGF22 will host a series of sessions addressing grids in the pharma/life sciences sector. The pharmaceutical industry and life sciences in general have begun to depend on in silico experiments as critical elements in the path to discovery. This has enabled exploration that is only limited by their ability to access sufficient computing resources and to store and manage the resultant glut of data. Submissions ranging from those that have turned to or developed Grid-based solutions to meet these needs and those still exploring different solutions to meet these issues are being solicited.

Sessions in this workshop aim to provide a vehicle for:
  • discussion of technical requirements from a pharma/life sciences perspective,
  • outreach activities,
  • lively and productive dialogues.

Contributions may be from the perspective of the end-user, software developer, or service provider and can be white papers, suggested presentations, panels or tutorials. Proposers should select the “Workshop? session type in the below drop-down and make reference to the Pharma/Life Sciences Workshop in the proposal.

Financial Services
Similar to the pharma/life sciences community, OGF22 will host a series of sessions aimed at addressing data in the financial services industry. The financial services industry must contend with ever-increasing amounts of data (along with their ability to continuously access such data) and thus has naturally turned to Grid solutions to enable increased capabilities in this space. Submissions geared at addressing various dynamic and virtualized resources allowing for flexibility in optimizing compute-data proximity for these environments are particularly being solicited.

Sessions in this workshop aim to provide a vehicle for:
  • discussion of technical requirements from a financial services perspective,
  • outreach activities,
  • lively and productive dialogues.

Contributions may be from the perspective of the end-user, software developer, or service provider and can be white papers, suggested presentations, panels or tutorials Proposers should select the “Workshop? session type in the below drop-down and make reference to the Financial Workshop in the proposal.

Other Community Content
As with traditional OGF event programs, the OGF22 Program Committee welcomes submissions of all types (case studies, technology updates, panels, tutorials, etc.). In addition to the explicit solicitations above, additional topics of interest include but are not limited to:
HPC,
Virtualization,
eScience,
Visualization in a grid environment,
Next generation data center,
Security,
Networking,
Grid application development.

OGF Chartered Groups and BoFs
Requests for traditional Chartered Group and BOF Sessions should be made by selecting either “Group Sessions? or “BoF? in the submission drop-down. Materials, such as draft documents and presentations, should be made available and may be updated as necessary prior to the event.

Online Submission Site Available November 21 – January 11.
